Early Reading Instruction
Learning to read is not a mystery — it is a skill, and every skill can be taught explicitly and systematically. When a student struggles with reading, it almost always highlights a gap in foundational instruction, not ability.
I initially assess each student to identify areas of concern and skills mastered. Once assessed, individualized lessons and units are created to ensure continued growth and skill development.
Instruction is rooted in Structured Literacy: explicit phonics, syllable types, word patterns, and morphology, taught in a logical sequence that builds real decoding skills. Students leave sessions with strategies they can use independently, not just answers to get through the week.

English Language Arts Tutoring
Strong readers become strong writers, and strong writers become confident thinkers. That is the philosophy behind every ELA session at Revive Tutoring.
Sessions are built around what each student actually needs — whether that is reading comprehension, literary analysis, essay structure, grammar, vocabulary, or all of the above. Instruction is explicit and direct with clear explanations, meaningful practice, and ongoing feedback.
Students do not just complete exercises. They learn to understand the craft behind what they read and the structure behind what they write — which is the difference between short-term improvement and long-term skills.

College Essay Writing Instruction
The college essay is the one place in the application where your student's voice takes center stage. It is not about impressing admissions officers with sophisticated vocabulary. It is about showing them something true and specific about your child's unique personality, interests, and talents.
Revive Tutoring guides students through every stage of the process: finding the right topic, developing a clear narrative, writing with honesty and precision, and refining the essay through targeted revision. Students work with real essay examples to understand what strong writing looks like and why it succeeds.

Advanced Placement Tutoring
AP English and AP History courses demand more than memorization. They require students to read analytically, argue clearly, and write under pressure — skills that take deliberate practice to develop.
Revive Tutoring follows the AP curriculum closely, preparing students for both their coursework and the exam itself. Students receive targeted instruction in each essay format, curated practice materials, and close work with sample responses so they can capture the essence of a highly successful essay.

Families add these to regular lessons when a student needs more than instruction in reading and writing.
Executive Function Support
Some students understand the material but lose track of assignments, struggle to start, or run out of time. During each lesson, I check your child’s school portal, such as Canvas or Google Classroom, track homework and deadlines, and teach your child to break essays into steps and plan long reading. Your child leaves each session knowing what to do next and when it’s due.
Dysgraphia Handwriting Instruction
Some students know the content, but their handwriting slows them down or makes their work hard to read. I teach grip, posture, and letter formation through explicit stroke instruction, and I build size and spacing with raised-line paper and multi-sensory practice. I offer this in-person service by referral only.

Reading Assessment and Report
When a child struggles, parents want to know why. I assess your child’s reading and writing, then write a report with present levels of performance and specific recommendations. We meet to review the results, and you can bring the report to your child’s school or IEP team.
Creative Writing Mentorship
Some young writers already love stories and want to create one of their own. I write fiction myself, and I teach craft lessons on character, scene, and voice, then give feedback on your child’s drafts as the story takes shape. By the end, your child is the proud owner of a finished story or a small book.
