Hi, I’m Rachna Dharna.

This isn't just a business. It reflects what I believe every child deserves.

My Story

As a child, reading opened up entire worlds for me. I fell in love with the characters, the language, and the chance to get lost in a story. By sixth grade, I was writing my own stories and poems and won my first creative writing award that year. I've never stopped writing. Today, I'm working on a novel and a collection of short stories.

That love of language led me to earn a master's degree in English Literature and a Single Subject Teaching Credential. In the high school classroom, I taught English at Notre Dame High School, Jefferson High School, and Latino College Preparatory Academy in San Jose, including AP Language and Composition. I helped students become thoughtful readers and stronger writers who could analyze complex texts, build arguments, and express ideas in their own voices.

But my classroom experience also showed me something else: many students reached high school still struggling with the foundations of reading, spelling, and vocabulary. I wanted to understand why—and how to help them.

I pursued specialized training in reading and literacy, earning a Reading and Literacy Authorization, an early literacy credential, and an English Language Learner Authorization. I later designed structured literacy curriculum for Amplify and Imagine Learning, creating lessons teachers and students use in classrooms nationwide.

In 2018, I founded Revive Tutoring to bring these experiences together. I wanted to offer students what I believe makes all the difference: research-based instruction, tailored to the individual, and delivered with patience and care.

Today, Revive brings together my love of language, my experience as an educator, and my beliefs ability to grow. Whether I'm helping a child discover the joy of reading or guiding a student toward becoming a more confident writer, the purpose remains the same: to help each student find their footing, recognize their potential, and discover what they can do.

My Approach

When a child struggles to learn, I want to understand why. I look beyond mistakes to find the missing skills, misconceptions, or gaps getting in the way. Then I build a plan around that child—not a curriculum checklist or a one-size-fits-all method.

I've worked with students who spent years with specialists and still couldn't read. Today, one of those students reads. Experiences like his remind me that struggling doesn't mean a child can't learn. Sometimes, they simply haven't been taught in a way that works for them.

With credentials spanning kindergarten through 12th grade, I bring that same individualized approach to every student, whether we're building foundational literacy or refining a college essay. My goal is for children to develop not only the skills they need, but also the confidence to use them.

Every child deserves a teacher who sees their potential, knows how to help them grow, and is willing to keep working until something clicks. That's the teacher I strive to be.
